The interior design features a minimalist style with wooden tables and chairs paired with soft lighting, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The terrace area is the restaurant’s trump card. Especially on nice weather days, sitting here while eating pizza and overlooking Harajuku streets gives you the illusion of “I’m on vacation in Tokyo.” The restaurant staff is friendly and professional, and the service is so smooth from ordering to serving, it’s like watching a culinary performance. Although there are a considerable number of seats, the restaurant is extremely popular, especially on weekends, making it nearly impossible to get in without a reservation, so remember to make one.
Signature Dish: Whole Wheat Pizza and Delicious Encounter with Prosciutto
The heart and soul of “PIZZERIA CANTERA” are undoubtedly their wood-fired pizzas, baked in a Neapolitan oven with perfectly controlled heat, resulting in crispy crusts and soft, chewy interiors. The most popular signature pizza is “Bismarck,” priced around 2,480 yen (prices may vary slightly due to tax rates). This pizza commands attention from the moment it arrives: plenty of domestically produced prosciutto atop Hokkaido whole wheat dough, with a half-cooked egg in the center. Once broken, the yolk blends with melted mozzarella cheese, topped with a sprinkling of Padano cheese for enhanced flavor. With each bite, salty, rich, and smooth flavors explode in your mouth, bringing pure happiness.
If you’re a prosciutto lover, there’s also “Suritate Nama Hamu” (freshly sliced prosciutto), so fresh that you can smell the sweetness of the meat, an indulgence best enjoyed with natural wines. Besides Bismarck, the classic “Margherita” (around 1,600 yen) is also worth trying, using top-quality tomato sauce and fresh basil, a simple yet powerful attack on your taste buds. For a seafood flavor, try “Shinojima” (around 1,600 yen), topped with kamaage shirasu (boiled whitebait) from Shinojima Island in Aichi Prefecture, offering a salty umami flavor that’s hard to stop eating. The pizza portions are quite generous, with a medium size satisfying one person, while sharing a large size with an appetizer is just right for two.
The appetizers are also excellent, such as “Toman Beef Carpaccio,” made with branded beef from Miyazaki Prefecture, paired with tender arugula and mushrooms, drizzled with olive oil, melting in your mouth yet retaining a pleasant chewiness. There’s also “Madako no Marinade Ceviche” (marinated octopus from Shinojima, priced around 1,000 yen), tangy and refreshing, perfect for summer.
