Osaka Shinsaibashi Gourmet: "#NikuToIebaMatsuda" - The Magician of the Yakiniku World!
In the fiercely competitive gourmet district of Osaka’s Shinsaibashi, a new restaurant that drives meat lovers wild opened on August 30, 2022 – “#NikuToIebaMatsuda.” This intriguing name is actually a branch of the Michelin-starred restaurant “#NikuToIebaMatsuda” from Nara. Originally located in Kashihara, its somewhat remote location made it difficult for many Osakans to experience. But now, without needing to travel far, this top-tier Wagyu yakiniku restaurant has officially entered Osaka, allowing you to enjoy the Nara’s finest yakiniku experience right in Shinsaibashi!
A Secret and Mysterious Hidden Gem
If you’re walking in Shinsaibashi, don’t expect to see a big sign for “#NikuToIebaMatsuda” on a main street. This restaurant isn’t the type that screams, “Come on in and eat meat!” Instead, it takes a low-profile, luxurious approach with a hidden gem vibe. The exterior is so understated that it lacks a prominent name, making you wonder, “Is this really a restaurant?” But once you spot the small, elegant “Matsu” (pine) symbol and push open the small door that resembles a tea room entrance, you’ll enter the ultimate yakiniku feast.
Inside, you’ll find a stylish open kitchen and a chic bar seating area. With only 10 bar seats and a few highly private individual rooms, it’s designed for people who want to enjoy high-end yakiniku discreetly! Whether it’s a date, a celebration, or simply a treat for yourself, the ambiance here will undoubtedly elevate the experience.
The Pinnacle of Meat Quality! Every Bite is a Luxurious Indulgence
This restaurant doesn’t offer “ordinary” meat. Since its opening, all the meat has been carefully selected, the absolute best of the best. Coming here means enjoying a “this bite is worth living for” yakiniku moment.
[Wagyu Truffle Yukke (Raw Wagyu Beef with Truffle)]
This dish is a feast for the eyes even before you take a bite. The server shaves a generous amount of truffle right in front of you, which is then paired with the golden egg yolk soy sauce “Dragon Egg” from Oita Prefecture. The moment it enters your mouth, the delicate texture of the Wagyu beef intertwines with the rich aroma of truffle. This is not just ordinary yakiniku; this is art.
[Supreme Wagyu Chateaubriand]
If there were a king in the world of yakiniku, this “Wagyu Chateaubriand” would undoubtedly be a contender. The chef cuts it on the spot and personally controls the heat, grilling it to a perfect pink gradient. The outer layer is slightly charred while the inside remains tender and juicy. One bite, and the delicate texture will make you question reality. There is no excess fat, only pure bliss.
[Grilled Wagyu Harami (Outside Skirt)]
This dish is an absolute dream for meat lovers. The outside skirt used in the restaurant comes from the Nara specialty Yamato Wagyu. The meat is firm with a rich beefy aroma. Between each chew, the rich meat juices perfectly blend with the secret yakiniku sauce, making it impossible to stop at just one bite.
[Secret Recipe Croquette (#NikuToIebaMatsuda no Korokke)]
At first glance, this signature fried dish seems simple, but one bite reveals a fluffy potato filling mixed with juicy Wagyu ground meat. The texture is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a savory and rich flavor.
Great value for the price: Affordable Michelin-level dining
Despite offering meat comparable to top-tier Kaiseki restaurants, “#NikuToIebaMatsuda” maintains surprisingly reasonable prices. While high-quality Wagyu sets at most yakiniku places easily cost over 10,000 yen, here, you can expect to pay around 7,000 yen per person. They even have quite a few a la carte items under 1,000 yen – a steal for Michelin-worthy yakiniku.
Osaka Shinsaibashi’s new gourmet king
“#NikuToIebaMatsuda” is more than just a yakiniku restaurant; it’s an adventure for your taste buds, an ode to Wagyu. From its hidden entrance to its low-key yet luxurious decor, from top-notch Wagyu to inventive dishes, every bite is a delightful surprise that will keep you coming back for more.
If you’re looking for amazing food in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi, “#NikuToIebaMatsuda” is a must-visit. Don’t forget to book in advance, as its popularity has skyrocketed, making seats highly sought-after. Come experience the ultimate yakiniku feast!
