One of the seven ancient castles in the Ryukyu Kingdom era. During the reign of the king, the highest priestess "Munetaka-Ōgimi" would hold a pilgrimage called "Agariumai" to pray for the prosperity of the country and the people. The castle site of Urasoe Castle was the final destination of the entire journey. Inside the castle, the "Sefa-utaki" ritual space where the gods of heaven and earth were worshipped is still preserved. Even today, as you step inside, you can still feel the quiet and solemn atmosphere.

The food area of the Product Hall has a few local specialties. The tempura made with Mozuku from Naha City is a signature item here. Mozuku itself has a sticky texture, and after being fried, the outside is crispy, and when bitten, there is a faint sea flavor, unlike the general tempura texture.

Inside Sefa-utaki, the entire area is made of natural stone roads and mud paths, with obvious ups and downs. It's very tiring to wear flip-flops or slippers in. It's recommended to change into sports shoes after parking the car at the Product Hall and then head out. The second-floor observation deck is free to enter, and buying a snack on the first floor and bringing it up to find a spot to blow the wind and watch the sea is a great way to take a break.

Okinawa Once Had Railways, and This is the Only Remaining Station

Many are surprised to learn that Okinawa had a complete "light railway" system before the monorail (Yui-Rail) was established. Before World War II, the Okinawa Prefectural Railway extended three lines from Naha, with the Yonabaru Line terminating here. This station was not only a passenger hub but also a major export point for Yonabaru's specialty "Yonabaru tiles" and southern resources, playing a much more significant role in the local economy than one might imagine today. During the Battle of Okinawa in 1945, the original station building was almost completely destroyed, leaving only a few reinforced concrete pillars. The current museum was restored in 2015 based on original design plans and old photographs, with the waiting room and ticket counter meticulously recreated. Inside, you'll find old tickets, remnants of the tracks, train models, and rare historical photos. The concrete pillars, marked with bullet holes, have been preserved in the back square and were designated as tangible cultural assets of Yonabaru in 2014.

In the back square, seeing the surviving pre-war pillars in person feels quite different from viewing them in photos. The weathered concrete surface still vaguely reveals the original structure, and standing next to them imparts an indescribable weightiness. Heart-Shaped Pool and Stone Arched Bridge:The pool's flat outline resembles the Chinese character '心' (heart), while the two stone arched bridges, made of Ryukyu limestone, have a subtle, ambiguous feel that's hard to pinpoint as either Japanese or Chinese, but it's undeniably beautiful.
Rokkaku-do:A black-tiled, tiled-roof pavilion built on a small island in the pool, with a roofline that echoes Chinese Qing dynasty architecture, but surrounded by a quintessential Japanese garden landscape – a deliberate blend of styles that now looks surprisingly natural.
Udun (御殿):The king's resting and reception hall, with a reddish-brown tiled roof and a wooden structure reminiscent of a typical Ryukyu-style traditional house, but with tatami-mat flooring inside, creating a harmonious contrast between the two space languages.
