Yakiniku Sudo Haruyoshi: Staff-Grilled Wagyu in Haruyoshi, Fukuoka
Yakiniku Sudo Haruyoshi is located at 3-chome, Haruyoshi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka, on the 1st floor of Hakata Panorama Plaza. It is a yakiniku restaurant where staff grill everything for you. Professional grillers prepare Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu beef for you. It is about a 6-minute walk from Tenjin-minami Station on the Municipal Subway Nanakuma Line. The restaurant has 30 seats (2 double tables, 3 four-person tables, 2 six-person tables). Some semi-private rooms are screened with curtains.
This top-tier Fukuoka yakiniku spot has its roots in Kumamoto. In 2013, owner Etsuo Sudo opened his first shop in Kumamoto, driven by a passion for yakiniku. His philosophy is simple: serve the best meat in the best possible way. The restaurant features high-quality Kuroge Wagyu beef raised in the nature of Kyushu. They specifically select female cows, known for their fine texture and rich subcutaneous fat. This dedication made Yakiniku Sudo an instant hit, with its reputation spreading across Kyushu like charcoal fire. The moment you step inside, the aroma of charcoal-grilled meat tells you this place is something special.
【Yakiniku Sudo Haruyoshi】Professional grillers have an expert understanding of meat, precisely controlling everything from the cut to the heat to ensure every slice is served at its peak. For example, the signature “Tokujo Yakiniku Course” (16,500 yen, contents vary by daily selection. This time included appetizers, salt-grilled meat, the chef’s recommended steak of the day, shabu-yaki, sauce-grilled meat, a main dish, and dessert) features 6 to 8 types of daily selected meats, ranging from marbled Wagyu to lean cuts, offering a dazzling variety.
Among them is the thick-cut “Chateaubriand” (the most premium part of the fillet). The griller lightly sears it over charcoal and serves it as a mini sandwich with special sauce on crispy toasted bread. The moment you take a bite, the meat juices and the aroma of the bread meld together—ah, it’s just too delicious! (*^^)
The chawanmushi is topped with a beautiful spring vegetable ankake sauce. It even contains shabu-shabu style meat inside!
Another must-try is the sirloin. Thinly sliced and quickly seared over charcoal, it is dipped in a secret sauce and coated in raw egg yolk for a tender, rich flavor that is heavenly when paired with a bowl of steaming white rice. Also, the mini yukhoe features fresh Wagyu beef with a slightly spicy sauce—an appetizing and satisfying treat. These meats are primarily Kyushu Kuroge Wagyu, specifically female cattle, known for their delicate texture and evenly distributed marbling that never feels greasy.
Beyond the main courses, the side dishes and accompaniments at Yakiniku Sudo Haruyoshi are also impressive. The opening salad and handmade kimchi offer a refreshing, slightly acidic balance to the richness of the grilled meat. The “Mini Cold Noodles,” featuring chilled noodles in a sweet, clear broth, are the perfect way to refresh your palate after a meal of savory, succulent meat. If you enjoy a drink, the wine list is a delightful surprise. The wine selection focuses on Burgundy, with acidity that complements the sweetness of the meat, alongside shochu and white wine—all personally curated by Mr. Sudo to pair perfectly with yakiniku.
In terms of pricing, this is a high-end establishment, but it is well worth the cost. The “Jo Course” is 13,200 yen (tax included), and the “Tokujo Course” is 16,500 yen (tax included), perfect for those looking to indulge. For special requests, you can order a la carte items like the “Special Sudo Pudding” (540 yen), which offers a rich, smooth texture that serves as the perfect dessert finale. Business hours are from 17:00 to 24:00, open every day, and English service is available. Be sure to visit for an exquisite yakiniku experience when in Fukuoka.
